T.G.I.G.F.
Two years ago I started Saddle Up and shortly after I wrote why this Friday is better than the rest. Today’s post follows a similar theme, title Thank God It’s Good Friday. Good Friday is special for those in relationships with Jesus because it marks the day he sacrificed himself on the cross before he rose again 3 days later, which is what we celebrate on Easter Sunday. I’m blessed because my company gives the staff Good Friday off, so we can spend time with family and friends and reflect on the blessings we have.
—> Last week I spent a few days in beautiful Park City, Utah for a conference. At 7,000 feet, it was stunning!
I also love Good Friday because the weather is always improving this time of year and the flowers and trees and being brought back to life with beautiful colors, leaves, and blossoms. April is such a turning point in the Boise area because not only does the weather warm up, but people get outside more to enjoy the recreation around us, the farmers market, and the long awaited yard work that’s piled up through the winter.
—> It was over 60 degrees and felt like 75 and there were people swimming at the pool and skiing down the hill, only a couple hundred feet apart!
Next time you’re on a walk in your neighborhood or around your town, take a moment to reflect and recognize the beauty around you. I’m grateful to have today off so I can spend quality time with my family and also to slow down and appreciate God’s creation around me. Today is a great reminder that the God who created everything around me also chose to send Jesus to earth and sacrifice him so that I could live a full, free life and live alongside Him. Whether you’re a Christian, have other beliefs, or none at all, take a moment to appreciate all that’s around you. If you’re feeling the nudge this Easter weekend, find a church near you and see what God has to say. It’s amazing what can happen when we pause and listen. Happy Good Friday and Easter Weekend!
